Everett Place, of Gloucester, ties a wreath at the Man-at-the-Wheel statue in memory of his father, Abbott Place, who died at sea fishing on the Belle in January of 1947. Place was one of few people who went down to the boulevard after attending the Fishermen Memorial Service which was held inside this year at the America Legion Square because of bad weather, but Place said the only reason he would miss the ceremony would be if he were dead.
