ALLEGRA BOVERMAN/Gloucester Daily Times. Francis Bruni who served as a gunfire control operator aboard the destroyer USS William D. Porter, took with him two pairs of binoculars when he disembarked the vessel as it sank. He gave away one pair but kept the other. This pair was on display at The Building Center in Gloucester where he worked for 50 years.
