Today marks the anniversary of a battle off Cape Ann that set in motion a chain of events that led to the British retreating from Boston. A British frigate loaded with arms was captured by locals 232 years ago. Joseph Garland wrote about it in his book “The Fish and the Falcon; Gloucester’s Resolute Role in America’s Fight for Freedom.” Above is an illustration depicting the British vessel Falcon firing on points in Gloucester.
