Lobster fisherman Bernie Feeney of Whitman displays a lobster with green rubber bands on its claws at the Cardinal Medeiros dock in Boston. The green bands signify that the trawl lines attached to the traps used to catch the lobsters are a type that sink rather than float in the water. The sinking lines are meant to reduce marine line entanglement, the second-leading human cause of endangered right whale deaths.
