MIKE SPRINGER/Gloucester Daily Times Dave Pugh of Whitwell, Tenn., practices paragliding earlier this week at Stage Fort Park in Gloucester. Pugh, owner of Cloudhouse Paragliding, was only practicing technique and giving a lesson to a local friend on the gentle slope at the park. From his home base in the Appalachian Mountains, Pugh typically reaches altitudes of 6,000 to 9,000 feet.
