West Parish Elementary School third graders took a field trip to Gloucester Maritime last Thursday. The students learned about different types of algae, habitats, and adaptations, examined the touch tanks, and made fish print T-shirts. Part of their visit included a ride on the Pinky Schooner Ardelle. Staff from the museum along with the schooner's captain and crew demonstrated bird watching, navigation, and how to use the sails. Students also went below deck. Gavin Harris is studying a navigational chart during the ride.
