Earlier this month, more than 650 area residents helped the YMCA of the North Shore raise more than $400,000 at its 14th annual gala event at the Danvers Doubletree by Hilton. Money raised supports the Cape Ann YMCA's financial assistance fund as well as the funds of the other five branches in the YMCA of the North Shore. In 2012, the YMCA of the North Shore will award more than $2.5 million in financial assistance, giving more than 9,500 deserving kids, adults and families subsidized Y programs and services.
