MIKE SPRINGER/Gloucester Daily Times Second graders, from left, Conner Fitzgerald, Alex Fraser, Danny Duncan and Grace Gerhardt dance to the music of folk singer Daisy Nell and her husband Stan Collinson at Essex Elementary School. Nell, an Essex native who plays Collinson in the group Crabgrass, has been working this fall with the Essex Elementary School music teacher, Rich Carpenter, as an artist in residence, playing folk music with various guest artists and teaching the students about the music's importance to cultures around the world. Students from each of the three second grade classes helped Nell write original lyrics, and the resulting songs will be performed at the school's holiday concert on December 19.
