Anthony Madden, 5, and his sister Aliyah Madden, 7, both of Charlestown and visiting their grandmother in Gloucester, were intently carving their pumpkins during Pumpkin Day activities at Cogswell's Grant in Essex on Saturday. Cogswell's Grant and activities there are just one of the Essex features showcased through the town's cultural district designation.
