Hayrides were offered during Pumpkin Day at Cogswell's Grant in Essex on Saturday. The ride took participants to the pumpkin patch where they could select pumpkins. George Nolan of Rowley was driving the tractor. There were various activities going on including a corn shucking contest, a pumpkin-pie eating contest, cider pressing, tours of the farm, pumpkin carving and decorating, face painting, pumpkin bowling, beanbag tosses, and cider, pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie.
