Tomorrow, the Cape Ann Farmers Market closes its season selling vegetables from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Harbor Loop, but it should have a festive air, according to market manager Jessica Hayes.
The main attraction will be a final Seafood Throwdown, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., featuring Miranda Mello, a personal chef, and Melissa Hunt, owner of Sugar Magnolia's on Main Street. In addition, this week's event will bear a few surprises for the participants and volunteers. The Throwdown will be coordinated with music by the day's performers.
Hayes expects a few more vendors than usual, including a comic book creator, and they will be selling goods catering to those who wish to do some early holiday shopping.
For the kids, David Brooks of Cape Ann Art Haven will lead a painting workshop from 4 to 4:45 p.m. Children will decorate acorn squashes donated by Shaw's supermarket.
Hayes said the market is already planning for next year; anyone interested in getting involved can call 978-281-1127.
