Armed robbery: thief hit White Hen before 5 a.m.

A knife-wielding robber hit The White Hen Pantry on Bass Avenue this morning, and police say they suspect the assailant is a man involved in three other recent armed robberies.
According to police, the man walked inside the 24-hour convenience store around 4:45 a.m. with a bandana over his face and threatened the clerk with a serrated-blade knife. The robber demanded access to the cash register and cleaned it out, before running out of the store.

  • Lynn man badly hurt in fall from Pond View roof
    A worker fell from the roof of the Pond View Village housing complex in West Gloucester this morning, suffering multiple injuries and requiring emergency airlift to Boston.
    A 22-year-old Lynn resident, the man was re-roofing the Pond View building around 8 a.m. when he apparently slipped and fell 35 feet onto a wooden deck, according to Gloucester Fire Captain Barry Aptt.
