Hornets field hockey moving on in states

The Manchester Essex field hockey team picked up a 1-0 victory over Bishop Fenwick in the quarterfinals of the Division 2 North state tournament Friday afternoon at Ed Field Field in Manchester.

The top-seeded Hornets (19-0-1) will now await the winner of Sunday's game between No. 4 Belmont and No. 5 Marblehead.

Junior Lizzy Ball scored the game's only goal in the second half on an assist from senior Amelia Burke, as the Hornets were finally able to find the back of the net after dominating possession. Junior goaltender Vicki Grimes made two saves for the shutout.
