Update: Washington St. reopened after morning water break

Gloucester Police have now reopened Washingtn Street to all traffic after a water line break beneath Washington Street some two blocks south of Grant Circle had forced the shuitdown of one of the city's main gateways for more than an hour earlier this morning.

The break occurred this morning  between Madison and Knowlton Square, and at different times, led police to close Washington Street in both directions, then to outbound traffic later in the morning. The disruption, however, was never along the route of tonight's Horribles Parade, which comes up Washington but then turns down Centennial Avenue to Gloucester High School. And DPW crews worked to clear the scene well before visitors began arriving for the parade, which forms at Gloucester High School and steps off at 6 p.m.
