Essex resident Alyssa Craigen recently joined M. Lekkakos Salon, Spa & Boutique, a Best of Boston hair salon, in Wenham.

Craigen, a master stylist and Goldwell colorist, has joined the salon full-time and is currently seeing clients.

A leading North Shore stylist, Craigen brings more than 15 years of experience with cuts, colors, foils, updo’s and styling to M. Lekkakos, the North Shore’s only full-service salon, spa and boutique.

“Alyssa’s unique color application techniques and wide range of skills convinced me that she would be the perfect addition to our salon team,” said owner Maria Lekkakos in a statement. “I know that area residents will be thrilled with what she has to offer.”

Craigen attended the Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute, and lives in Essex with her three children.

The salon is offering $40 off any cut or color service with Craigen from now through Dec. 31.

Caturano receives accounting award

TROY, MICH. — The Board of Directors of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) and its President and Chief Executive Officer Peggy A. Dzierzawski, officially announced the recipients of its 2013 awards at the MACPA’s annual awards dinner on Monday, Sept. 30, at Shenandoah Country Club in West Bloomfield, Mich.

“In this past year, our members have given so much of their time to help the accounting profession and those in it,” said Dzierzawski in a statement. “We are very appreciative for all they have done.”

Richard J. Caturano of Gloucester was named the recipient of the Outstanding Visionary Award.

Topsfield Fair tickets selling at discount

Today through Thursday, Oct. 3, discounted advance tickets for admittance to the Topsfield Fair will be on sale. The discounted advance sale price is $9 per ticket, or $8 per ticket if bought in a bundle of 100 at the Topsfield Fair ticket booth off Route 1. The $9 tickets may also be purchased the Gloucester Daily Times office on Whittemore Street, online at This year’s Topsfield Fair will be run Friday, Oct. 4, to Oct. 14.
