Big night for the brides

A day after the Cruiseport Gloucester Bridal Show and Wedding Expo, organizers weren't just looking forward to next year — they're talking about making it a two-day weekend event.

More than 1,000 people attended the fourth annual event Thursday evening, making it the largest commercial event held there to date, according to Cruiseport's Sheree DeLorenzo and Vinwood Catering owner Tom Lang. That's roughly 10 times the 100 or so that turned out for the first presentation back in 2009.

The transformed banquet and dining spaces offered nearly 50 vendors to talk with brides, their families and bridesmaids about cakes, music, photography, videography, flowers, attire and foods and more.

The fashion show showcased 24 bridal gowns, plus bridesmaid dresses, tuxedos and mother-of-the-bride attire, while appetizers were served by Vinwood Catering along with other foods, desserts and beverages was people went from vendor to vendor sampling their foods and discussing their services.
