The Sawyer Free Library Board of Directors unanimously elected Scott Memhard as its new chairman at the board’s Jan. 8 meeting.

Memhard, owner of Cape Pond Ice, succeeds Joan Ciolino as the board’s chairman.

SeniorCare’s Valentine breakfast

SeniorCare will host its the 39th annual Meals on Wheels Valentine Breakfast Fundraiser on Thursday, Feb. 14, 7 to 9:30 a.m., at the Gloucester House restaurant, Rogers Street, Gloucester.

Tickets are $10, $8 for seniors.

Rose named vice president

VNA Care Network & Hospice, a home health care, palliative care and hospice agency at 8 Angle St., Gloucester, recently appointed David A. Rose as vice president of human resources.

Rose brings nearly three decades of experience in the field of human resources to his new role at the nonprofit. VNA Care Network & Hospice’s home-based health care helps people of all ages remain at home while dealing with a wide range of illnesses and injuries, including congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and diabetes. The agency’s hospice team offers physical, emotional, spiritual and practical support to terminally ill patients and their loved ones.

Rose joined VNA Care Network & Hospice more than 20 years ago and was previously the director of human resources. He is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Society for Human Resources Management. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Boston College in Chestnut Hill and a master’s of business administration and advanced certification in business administration with a concentration in health care administration, both from Anna Maria College in Paxton.

Ohana closes

for the season

The Gloucester restaurant Ohana, which serves New American cuisine, will be closing for the season after Jan. 15.

The restaurant, at 151 Main St., will re-open on April 1 for dinner, and will resume lunch service soon after.

Cruiseport hosting Bridal Show

Cruiseport Gloucester will host its annual Bridal Show & Wedding Exposition on Sunday, Jan. 27, noon to 4 p.m., in its Grand Ballroom, 6 Rowe Square, Gloucester.

The event, hosted by Sheree DeLorenzo, will feature a fashion show, wedding fare, wedding cakes, disc jockeys, live bands, dozens of floral tablescapes, prizes and more.
