ESSEX — A sure sign that spring is coming is annual reopening of two of Essex’s restaurants.
Periwinkles, 74 Main St., and J.T. Farnham’s Seafood Grill, 88 Eastern Ave., both open at lunchtime today.
Diners at Periwinkles, which opens daily at 11:30 a.m., will see seasonal changes to the menu, while old favorites make a return, said owner Tom Guertner.
“But the most exciting change,” he said, “is that Eventide Gallery has moved its gallery to Perwinkles.”
The work of five or six different artists, all for sale, will be spread throughout the restaurant, and the paintings, which Guertner said are “breathtaking,” will change constantly.
Farther down Route 133, at Farnham’s, owners Terry and Joe Celluci have tweaked the menu.
“People sometimes want to get away from fried food,” said Terry Celluci.
Now those diners can choose a Greek salad, and add grilled haddock, scallops, shrimp or chicken if they want. Greek pasta salad is being offered as a side dish or option on plates instead of french fries or onion wings.
And for those who don’t wish for fish, a buffalo plate, featuring fresh chicken tenders, is available.
