---- — Chefs battle tonight in tuna throwdown
Alchemy chef Scott Jensen has challenged chef Steve Morlino of Union Bar and Grille in Boston, where Jensen got his start, to a “Wicked Tuna” throwdown.
Tonight, both chefs will whip up their best dish using the famed tuna — yes, the tuna from the show — and guests will choose which chef comes out on top.
The dinner event, $25 per person, begins at 7:30 tonight at Alchemy, 3 Duncan St. in Gloucester. Each diner will receive a signature challenge cocktail made with Gloucester’s own Ryan & Wood spirits, a “Wicked Tuna” dish from each chef, and the opportunity to cast a vote for the winner.
This is the first in a series of chef challenges at Alchemy. For more information, call 978-281-3997.
Crosby’s carrying rocker’s coffee
MANCHESTER — There’s a new organic coffee — with a rock ‘n’ roll pedigree — on the shelves at Crosby’s Marketplace, 3 Summer St.
Yesterday, the family-owned supermarket, at all its locations, started carrying Rockin’ & Roastin’, a coffee line created by Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer.
“Shoppers see quality and value in every aisle and I’m confident they will find that in my Rockin’ and Roastin’ brews,” said Kramer.
The are two dark roasts, from Sumatra and Ethiopia, and one dark-medium, hailing from Guatemala, available in both whole-bean and ground forms, and soon, Kramer will unveil a single-serving option.
“We are committed to providing our customers with top products and Joey’s coffee is no exception to this,” said Mike Flaherty, senior grocery buyer at Crosby’s Marketplace.
Kramer announced a year-long campaign to donate a portion of his coffee sales through June 2014 to auto-dealership magnate Ernie Boch Jr.’s nonprofit organization, Music Drives Us, which supplies grants for music programs to effect positive changes for people in need throughout New England.
Rockin’ & Roastin’ will retail for $7.99 to $8.99 per 12-ounce bag. For more information, visitwww.crosbysmarket.com or www.rockinandroastin.com.
