Businesswomen offer holiday home tour

A tour of homes in the Annisquam and Rowley Shore areas is planned for Saturday by the Businesswomen of the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce to support the Carolyn O'Connor Scholarship.

The scholarship benefits a woman who is changing careers or returning to the work force after an absence and is in need of further education. The businesswomen have given out four $1,000 scholarships since it was created in 2006 and named after O'Connor, the first chairperson of the Chamber women's group.

The group hopes "Home for the Holidays" will either raise enough money to increase the scholarship amount, or to increase the number of scholarships in the year 2010.

The self-guided tour is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and several homes will be professionally decorated for the holidays.

Tickets are priced at $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the tour. A map showing the location of the homes can be picked up along with tickets on the day of the tour at the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce, 33 Commercial St., between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Anyone seeking information on the program may contact the Chamber at 978-283-1601, or visit capeannchamber.com.
