Calls for photos of Cape Ann's beauty
The Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce seeks digital photos for use in its 2010 Cape Ann Visitor's Map.
Already in production, this primary fulfillment piece for all advertising initiatives offers local photographers — both amateur and professional — exceptionally high-end volume visibility with 200,000 full color brochures widely distributed in kiosks, visitor centers and establishments throughout New England and Cape Ann, as well as at travel shows around the world.
The chamber specifically requests shots that capture the beauty of Gloucester, Rockport, Essex and Manchester, as well as the wealth of attractions and activities available to visitors year round. Submitting photographers and organizations will receive published credit. Advertising space in this key publication is available to chamber members. Space is limited. New president to be introduced at dance
The Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce will kick off the new year at its 88th annual Dinner-Dance at Cruiseport Gloucester on Saturday, Jan. 30.
The dinner will celebrate the installation of Kathy Low of KMConsulting to the office of president, and honor outgoing President Todd Tanger of North Shore 104.9. The social hour will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and dancing to the music of Walker Creek Band.

Bond manager retires after 40-year career
After a 40-year career of bond management in the Boston area, longtime Annisquam resident Thomas B. Hovey will retire at year's end as senior fixed income portfolio manager at Appleton Partners in Boston. Prior to joining Appleton Partners in 1993, he held senior positions at John Hancock Advisors and The Boston Company. Hovey's diligence in overseeing individual client portfolios and his depth of market knowledge contributed greatly to the standard of excellence that has characterized Appleton since it's founding in 1986.
"Tom's reputation in the Boston investment community for his knowledge and experience managing municipal bond portfolios is unparalleled," wrote Appleton vice president Jeffrey Johnson.
This retirement was coincident with changes in the industry, asset growth at Appleton, and a challenging market environment.
Annual 'Wine-down' at Rockport's Emerson Inn
The Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce Businesswomen's 22nd annual holiday networking "wine-down" is set for Jan. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Emerson Inn, 1 Cathedral Ave., Rockport. Cost is $25 per person and includes two complimentary glasses of wine and a variety of appetizers.
