SCORE to open Gloucester office

Cape Ann Business Incubator Inc. has announced that the Service Corps of Retired Executives, America's premier source of free and confidential small-business advice for entrepreneurs, will open a Gloucester office in collaboration with CABI.

SCORE "Counselors to America's Small Business" is a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs on the formation, growth and success of small-businesses nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration. SCORE has helped nearly 8 million small businesses, including Vermont Teddy Bear, Vera Bradley Designs and Jelly Belly Candy.

SCORE's accredited counselors will offer business advice and resource information to prospective and existing business owners at CABI, 72 Rogers St., Gloucester, starting Sept. 16, and continuing the first and third Tuesday of each following month. From starting a business to growing it, SCORE counselors help develop a business plan, test the potential of a new business idea or determine the best solution to a business problem.

"In looking at other communities that have transformed themselves, it is those communities that are entrepreneurially-friendly that have thrived ... having SCORE in Gloucester complements and enhances existing services provided by the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce, Cape Ann Business Incubator, the Small Business Development Center, and seARTS," said CABI Director Erika Hansen in a statement.
