Rotary Club's pancake breakfast is Saturday
Rotary Club of Gloucester's annual Pancake Breakfast, which over the past 23 years has raised over $100,000 for the Rose Baker Senior Center, North Shore Health Project and SeniorCare, will be upping the ante yet again on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Stage Fort Park Bandstand during the Waterfront Festival, from 7:30 to 11 a.m.
Howard M. Frisch, of Horvitz & Frisch, P.C., who has co-chaired the Rotary event for its 23 years, says the popular menu will, as usual, offer pancake lovers the same great deal.
For $7 per person, pancake lovers will get their fill of blueberry pancakes — flipped by Rotary Club volunteers from the leading ranks of Gloucester's business community — along with juice, sausage, coffee, fun, and a great chance to support some of Gloucester's great causes.

'Hometown Store's' grand opening
Sears Cape Ann will celebrate the grand opening of its 146 Eastern Ave. Sears Hometown Store on Saturday, Aug. 20, with giveaways, raffles, and deep discounts throughout the day. The Sears Hometown Store is a unique concept grown by Sears over the past 20 years, with close to 1000 now operating throughout the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.
The Hometown model combines the feel and exceptional customer service of a community store with the wide assortment of top brand tools, appliances, electronics and lawn and garden merchandise offered at Sears, Roebuck and Co. full line stores.
By equipping the store with computers for use by staff and customers, shop owner and Rockport resident Ed Muzio, offers the local community the ability to research any product offered by Sears or any local or national competitor.
Raffle items awaiting the grand opening's lucky winners include a flat panel TV, a fully stocked freezer, gift cards ranging from $25 to $250, tool sets and more. Complimentary food and beverages will be served and the event will include a live remote broadcast by North Shore 104.9.
The new Eastern Avenue showroom is the second Sears store for Muzio, who has successfully operated Sears Seabrook, N.H., since 2009. Sears Cape Ann will be open Monday through Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m, Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
