Supermarket featuring Manchester-made soups

A local entrepreneur is now serving her homemade favorites at the Crosby's Marketplace in Manchester.

Catherine Steinhoff of Manchester announced this past week that she and the grocery store have entered into an agreement to distribute her line of homemade soups, under her business name, Sea Street Soups, marking the start of the expansion of her customized, home delivery business into markets.

The company, which now operates out of a commercial kitchen in Danvers, will continue to use only natural ingredients, many of which come from local farmers markets.

Steinhoff started Sea Street Soups with other moms who, after raising children, wanted to apply what the skills they developed in their kitchens over the last 25 years.

She said her children, who have now grown up, were her taste testers over the years and helped her develop the delicious, healthy soups.

This summer the company sold her soups at the Cape Ann Farmers Market.

Some of her soups Crosby's will carry are Hot Curried Tomato, Carrot Ginger, Country Mushroom and Sweet Potato Corn Chowder.

"We like the philosophy of soup," Steinhoff said. "It typifies our attitude toward life, really. Soup is fun, looks and tastes great, it's good for you, and you don't have to wash up afterwards."
