Joan and Robert Burke

Robert Burke and Joan (Parker) Burke of Gloucester celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a celebratory luncheon held at The Village Restaurant in Essex.

All four of their children attended: Gary and wife Robin Burke, Steven and wife Irena Burke, Sheila MacDowell, Julie and husband Jeffrey Whitaker. They also have seven grandchildren, Amanda, Adam, Heather, Erika, Katie, Jill and Ben and three great-grandchildren, Sophie, Ava and Nova.

Robert and Joan have always made Gloucester their home. They are always seen together enjoying walks on the Boulevard and spending time at Niles Beach.

Robert worked for Hoods milk before his retirement, and Joan worked as a telephon operator for New England Telephone until her retirement.

The couple married Aug. 4,1951.
