Linda and Steve Rowell of Rockport are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Melissa Rowell to Jason Larocque, son of Debra and Bill Blood (mother and stepfather) and Kevin Larocque (father), all of Methuen.
Melissa graduated from Rockport High School. She also graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern University where she received a BA in Management and Marketing and a minor in Communications. She is employed at Hill Holliday in Boston as an Account Supervisor.
Jason graduated from Central Catholic High School. He also graduated from Harvard University cum laude where he received a BA in Government. He is employed at St. Albans School for Boys in Washington D.C. as a middle school teacher and the head varsity baseball coach.
The couple met on a blind date in 2005 while Jason was the bullpen catcher for the Boston Red Sox and Melissa was an advertising account executive. They hit it off right away and have been together ever since. In front of family and friends, Jason proposed by asking Melissa to throw out the first pitch of his team's high school baseball game, for which he was head coach. After Melissa threw the pitch to Jason behind the plate, he came to the pitcher's mound, got down on one knee and proposed while Allman Brothers' "Sweet Melissa" played over the loud speaker. Jason had spent the majority of his life on (baseball) diamonds, but the diamond he gave Melissa was the most important one.
