Scholarship fund
The Linda Wieditz Memorial Scholarship Fund Committee would like to thank the students of Rockport High School for dedicating their concert on Tuesday, March 13, to Linda Wieditz, who taught music at RHS for 14 years, and died in a tragic accident in 2003.
A scholarship has been awarded every year since 2004 to a graduating senior who will major in music.
We would also like to thank the music teachers: Nathan Cohen, Laurie Tuck, Patti Pike and, most especially, Jim Davison, the director of the Jazz Ensemble and the Chorus.
Thank you to the staff at Rockport Music: Stephanie Woolf and Karen Herlitz for their support and encouragement.
And, thank you to the people of Rockport who attended the concert and gave generously in donations to the scholarship fund. This was a huge community effort!

The Girl Scouts
On Monday, March 12, the Girl Scouts of Cape Ann celebrated our 100th anniversary. At exactly 7:12 p.m., we formed a circle and recited the Girl Scout Promise and Law with millions and millions of other Girl Scouts USA members, all over the world.
Our celebration was hosted by the Elks of Gloucester who allowed us the use of their hall for our party which we opened to all who wanted to attend. At least 200 girls and adults joined in with our celebration. Troops prepared displays about Girl Scouting over the last hundred years and one troop showed what they thought Girl Scouting would be in the year 2050. One troop from Rockport made a wonderful timeline of Girl Scouting on Cape Ann.
Adding to our celebration, Shaws Supermarket donated our birthday cake and Goodwins Party Store gave us green balloons to add to the decorations.
To help celebrate our birthday, troops donated everything needed for ten birthday party packs which will go to the Cape Ann Food Pantry for those who need them. Everything from party invitations to cake mix and the pan to bake it in, were collected and packaged up in Girl Scout cookie cases. Friendly's donated gift certificates so ice cream can be added to each of the party packs.
To all who helped us celebrate, thank you!

The family of Charles McIntosh
We would like to thank all our friends who made such a difficult time a bit easier. "Charlie" was loved by many, and it was reflected in the way friends have shared in our loss.
We would like to thank John and Colette Knowlton, George Roark, Syvia and Michael Lindberh, Peter Kelly, Carolyn and Michael Hollis and all his friends at Gloucester High School, and countless others.
We will all miss "Charlie," but we will always remember his warm, friendly smile and his generous heart.
