Manchester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Press releases may be sent to Goings on, Gloucester Daily Times, 36 Whittemore St., Gloucester, MA 01930, sent via email to gdt@gloucestertimes.com or faxed to 978-282-4397. Please include a contact person’s name and telephone number and send at least two weeks prior to the event. The Times will do its best to run the announcement at least once prior to the event. Due to the volume of goings on listings received by the paper, listings are alternated once they run and the same listings are not printed every day.

Landing for lunch

The Manchester Council on Aging luncheon at The Landing at Seven Central is Tuesday, Dec. 12, at noon. Menu includes chowder or salad, steak tips, baked scrod or chicken Alfredo, potato, vegetable, bread and butter, and dessert. Cost is $15. Prepaid reservations are due in the COA office by Dec. 7. Transportation is available. Call 978-526-7500.

Causeway luncheon

The Manchester Council on Aging will offer a baked haddock lunch from the Causeway restaurant on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 12:15 p.m., at the American Legion, Post 113. Menu also includes vegetables, potato, beverage and dessert. Cost is $10. Limited to 45 seniors. Prepaid reservations are due in the COA office by Nov. 23. Call 978-526-7500.

Walmart shopping

The Manchester Council on Aging will travel to the Walmart Plaza in Seabrook, N.H., for shopping Wednesday, Dec. 5. Van pick-up at 11 a.m. and return by 2:30 p.m. To register, call 978-526-7500.

Trader Joe’s

The Manchester Council on Aging’s monthly trip to Trader Joe’s in Danvers is Friday, Dec. 14. Van leaves Manchester at 9:30 a.m. and returns around noon. Allow one hour or so for shopping at Trader Joe’s or any other store in the plaza. To register, call 978-526-7500.

Christmas fair

First Parish Church Manchester will hold its annual Christmas fair Saturday, Nov. 17, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the chapel building behind Sovereign Bank. Features handmade holiday and coastal crafts, White Elephant room, homemade Thanksgiving pies, and Christmas wreaths to order. Children may take a picture with Santa at 10 a.m.
