Manchester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. 1040 instruction booklets

The 1040 tax instruction booklets have finally arrived and are available at the Manchester Public Library. The library also has an assortment of other federal forms and the state booklet. Library staff can help you download forms from the IRS and DOR websites.

COA Yoga

The Manchester Council on Aging offers a yoga class Thursdays at 10 a.m. This gentle yoga is done in seated and standing postures. Call Nancy Hammond at 978-526-7500.

Tax advice

The AARP Foundation tax-aide and SeniorCare RSVP programs will offer free income tax advice to qualified seniors and low-income residents. All volunteer counselors are trained by the IRS. Tax volunteer Mary Gundy will be in the Council on Aging office Thursdays, 1:15 to 4 p.m., with appointments scheduled every half hour. Bring copies of the previous year’s federal and state tax returns, any forms including W-2s and other relevant material showing income for the year. Call 978-526-7500 for an appointment.

Open Door pantry

The Open Door food pantry, 28 Emerson Ave., Gloucester, serves residents of Manchester, Essex, Gloucester, Rockport and Ipswich with a full-service pantry of milk, eggs, bread, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, and a variety of dry and canned goods. The pantry can be used once every seven days. Valid identification required. For hours, call 978-283-6776 or visit www.foodpantry.org.
