Rockport Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. RHS fundraiser

Rockport High School’s Spanish Class fundraiser kicks off at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Jalapenos Mexican Restaurant, Main Street, Gloucester. Admission is free, and a portion of all receipts till 9:30 p.m. support the student’s educational trip to Costa Rica. For more information, call Lil Duffy at 978-546-1234.

Carpe Diem!

The women’s a cappella singing ensemble, ‘Leven,’ celebrates their 21st season with “Carpe Diem!” - a concert of songs from the Serbian Mountains to the American Heartland, swinging through many times and places in between. On Saturday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 pm., at the Rockport Unitarian, seize the day, and join singers Mary Black, Pat Maloney-Brown, Caroline Haines, Anne Hyde, Sheryl Reed, and Kristina Martin, with drummer Leo Ciaramitaro for a fundraiser concert to benefit Rockport New Year’s Eve 2012.

Halloween party

Pigeon Cove Circle will host its annual Halloween party, for pre-kindergarten children through grade three, on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Circle Center, 6 Breakwater Ave. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Halloween parade

It’ll be a full afternoon of Halloween fun at the Rockport Public Library on Saturday, Oct. 27, starting at 1:15 p.m. when kids in costumes set off from the School Street entrance to parade around the block through Dock Square and along Main Street. Then the ghosts, goblins, princesses, firemen and scary fiends gather in the Brenner Friends Room at 2 p.m. for a party featuring Team Magic with Greg McAdams presenting his “Spooky Goofy Halloween Safety Magic Show.” Magic, comedy, puppetry and audience participation teach kids how to have a happy and safe Halloween. Sponsored by the Friends of the Rockport Public Library.
