On Saturday, July 13, 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. join the self-guided Gloucester Garden Tour, and help support the plantings at the Fishermen’s Wives Memorial and the new HarborWalk Butterfly gardens. Start at Exit 12, off Route 128 North, for a program/ticket, and tour five gardens with views of the Annisquam and Little rivers, then to West Gloucester, to the Holdsworth garden. Then park at Stage Fort Park and hop a trolley to Stacy Boulevard’s Elizabeth Gordon Smith Park, Picture Garden and Perennial Gardens with a stop at the Fishermen’s Wives Memorial and Harborwalk Butterfly Gardens, where designer Kim Smith will conduct speaking tours. Cape Ann Contra Dance
Cape Ann Contra Dance will present a community contra dance and a family dance Saturday, July 13, at the American Legion hall, 8 Washington St. Family dance runs from 7 to 8 p.m., followed by the contra dance at 8 p.m. Contra dance refers to a New England based folk dance style in which couples dance facing each other in parallel lines. Contra dance events are family-friendly gatherings that usually last about three hours, and include several individual contra dances. Voluntary donations accepted.
