SUPPORT GROUPS

Grief Recovery After a Substance Passing (GRASP), a support group for families or individuals who have lost a loved as a result of substance use or addiction. HEART, a group founded by mothers of gay children on Cape Ann, meets monthly to share thoughts and experiences and to offer support to other parents of gay children. Whether your child is 5 or 35 you are welcome to join us in a safe, comfortable setting. Meetings are one morning a month. Low Vision Group meets the second Monday of every month, 1:30 p.m., at Manchester Senior Center. All welcome. Call the Manchester Council on Aging at 978-526-7500.

Learn to Cope, a confidential support group for parents/caregivers struggling with a member of the family who is addicted to opiates and/or other drugs (opiates include heroin, Oxycontin, Vicodin, Percocet, etc.) meets Wednesdays, 7 to 9 p.m., in the Thompson Room, St. John’s Episcopal Church, 42 Middle St., Gloucester. 508-801-3247. Cape Ann Military Family Support Group meets the first Thursday of every month, 7 p.m., at the Veterans Center, 12 Emerson Ave., Gloucester. All veterans, family and friends of those in the military welcome. Group provides speakers, events, resources and support.

Free Polycythemia Vera Support Group meets at Addison Gilbert Hospital, 298 Washington St., Gloucester. Family members and friends welcome. To register, call Joanne Gibbs at 978-283-4000, ext. 559, or Nancy Guinivan at 978-762-6684.

Cape Ann Cancer Support Group meets the fourth Tuesday of every month, 4:30 to 6 p.m., in the Longan Room, Addison Gilbert Hospital (use Washington Street entrance). No fee or preregistration required.
