Manchester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Press releases may be sent to Goings on, Gloucester Daily Times, 36 Whittemore St., Gloucester, MA 01930, sent via email to gdt@gloucestertimes.com or faxed to 978-282-4397. Please include a contact person’s name and telephone number and send at least two weeks prior to the event. The Times will do its best to run the announcement at least once prior to the event. Due to the volume of goings on listings received by the paper, listings are alternated once they run and the same listings are not printed every day.

Volunteen applications

The Manchester Public library has volunteen applications for students finishing grades five through 12 this spring. Applications are due by May 24. Training and scheduling begins the first week of June. Volunteens are required to assist for a total of 15 hours (minimum) in the summer and will be given a variety of needed tasks, including shelving, processing, creating and posting fliers, assisting at crafts and science programs, and general library help. Manchester Singers

Manchester Singers meets Mondays, 7:30 p.m., at Congregational Chapel on Chapel Lane. New members, men and women, are welcome. Community chorus is led by Fred Broer. Call 978-283-9021, email feb3@earthlink.net or visit www.manchestersingers.org.

Open Door pantry

The Open Door food pantry, 28 Emerson Ave., Gloucester, serves residents of Manchester, Essex, Gloucester, Rockport and Ipswich with a full-service pantry of milk, eggs, bread, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, and a variety of dry and canned goods.
