Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Backyard Growers fab funder!

An anonymous donor is matching every donation (up to $3,000) made today, up to midnight, to Gloucester’s Backyard Growers Program. This double-your-money opportunity could raise up to $3,000 for Gloucester’s school garden program, as $25 becomes $50, $100 becomes $200, etc. Your donations must be in by midnight tonight, so please; spread the word, give what you can, and give Gloucester’s Backyard Growers a chance to grow more edible gardens with Gloucester’s school kids. Community Health Activist Awards

The North Shore Health Project will present its third annual Community Health Activist Award to Congressman John Tierney, representative from the sixth Congressional District, on Thursday, May 30, 7:30 to 9 a.m., at the Gloucester House restaurant, 63 Rogers St. The breakfast is open to the community. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Advance tickets are $20, $25 at the door. All proceeds benefit the NSHP.

Class of 1943

The Gloucester High School class of 1943 will hold a 70-year reunion Saturday, Aug. 10, noon, at the Gloucester House restaurant. Notices have been sent. Those who have not received a notice should call George Monbourquette at 978-356-8611 or Edward Larkin at 978-526-1733. Classmates are asked to remit by June 15.
