Annual party

The Old Garden Beach Association will hold its annual cocktail party on Saturday, June 23, at 5 p.m., at the home of Doreen Gove, 16 Dean Road. BYOB and appetizer to share. All neighbors, friends, members and nonmembers are welcome.

Meet the author

Best-selling author William Landay will be at the Rockport Public Library on Wednesday, June 20, at 7 p.m., to discuss his latest courtroom thriller, "Defending Jacob," a blend of murder mystery and love stories of husband and wife, parent and child, and the lengths to which a person will go to protect that love. Landy, a former district attorney, holds degrees from Yale a and L.A. Times Favorite Crime Book of the Year. All are welcome to attend this free question and answer session with the author, co-sponsored by the Rockport Public Library, Friends of the Library, and Toad Hall Bookstore.

Free at Shalin Liu

Rockport Music is presenting two free family morning concerts at the Shalin Liu Performance Center. On Saturday, June 16, at 10 a.m., the Parker Quartet brings its eclectic mix of music to the stage, and explores and interprets an incredible range of classical repertoire, including works by Kúrtag, Debussy, and Mozart. On Saturday, June 23, at 10 a.m., BeatCity Art Ensemble goes deep into the roots of contemporary chamber music, and comes up with jazz, tango and folk on piano, percussion, flute, strings, and even the accordion!

Bible Study

Every Wednesday morning, the Rockport Baptist Church hosts a Bible Study that is free and open to the public. The group studies various portions of scripture and seeks to make contemporary application. Cardio fusion

Rockport Recreation is offering a new fitness program for adults, combining strength training, cardio, Pilates and flexibility. Individual classes are $6, at the Rockport Community House. For more information, call Caitlin at 978-546-1309.

Arts scholarship

The Cape Ann Shakespeare Troupe has established a $500 scholarship to be awarded to a Cape Ann high school senior who has been accepted to a college theater arts program. Prerequisites include participation in high school drama programs and involvement in one CAST production. Drivers for seniors

RSVP Volunteers of the North Shore seeks volunteer medical transportation drivers. SeniorCare is in need of volunteers from Gloucester and Rockport for local and out-of-town appointments. Volunteers choose when and how often they drive. Drivers are compensated. Call 978-281-1750.
