Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Press releases may be sent to Goings on, Gloucester Daily Times, 36 Whittemore St., Gloucester, MA 01930, sent via email to gdt@gloucestertimes.com or faxed to 978-282-4397. Fall Festival

Cape Ann Museum will host a Fall Festival at the historic White-Ellery House, 245 Washington St., on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The program is free and open to the public. Demonstrations include decoy carving with Bob Brophy; needlepoint design with Carol Karlson; traditional rug making with Rose Ann Hunter; hand woven design with Sara Wright; wool spinning with Leslie Wind; and more. Health Fair

The Gloucester High School Health Center and Addison Gilbert Hospital will host a free Health Fair and Healthcare Career Day on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 8:30 a.m. to noon, in the GHS Field House. More than 30 educational and career booths will be available along with demonstrations and give-aways.

League of Women Voters

The League of Women Voters of Cape Ann will meet Tuesday, Oct. 8, 10 a.m., at St. John’s Church, Middle Street. All are welcome. Call 978-546-2191.

Clothes Closet

The Clothes Closet, in the basement of St. Ann School, corner of Prospect and Pleasant streets, is open Wednesdays, 6 to 8 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m.. to 1 p.m. This is made possible through the volunteer efforts of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Holy Family Parish. Proceeds benefit local families in need. Call 978-283-7391.
