Weekly playgroup for toddlers and preschoolers, 9 to 11 a.m., Manchester Community Center. Each week includes a theme and variety of activities for toddlers. Plenty to keep your infant entertained as well.

Monday. Nov. 4

Afterschool book group meets, 3:30 p.m., Manchester Public Library.

Knitting nook at Manchester Public Library, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. with instructor. Knitters welcome, old and new, children, and adults, beginners and experienced. Some supplies provided, but suggest you bring your own. Register with Sara Collins at 978-526-2016 or scollins@mvlc.org

Wednesday Nov. 6

Council on Aging’s monthly mystery ride, van pick-up at 1 p.m., return by 3 p.m. Pack an appetite. To register, call 978-526-7500.

Book Publishing from the Inside Out, 6:30 p.m., Manchester Public Library. Guest speaker Beth Ineson, director of field sales at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

Friday, Nov. 8

Council on Aging mall trip, van pick-up at 9:30 a.m. Choose between Peabody and Danvers malls. $3 donation requested. To register, call 978-526-7500.

Rockin’ Readers meet, 3:30 to 4 p.m., Manchester Public Library, to discuss “Moxie and the Art of Rule Breaking.” Mostly fith-graders have fun reading, talking, snacking and learning from each other. Extra books available. Register with Sara Collins at 978-5260-2016 or scollins@mvlc.org.
