Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Please include a contact person’s name and telephone number and send at least two weeks prior to the event. The Times will do its best to run the announcement at least once prior to the event. Due to the volume of goings on listings received by the paper, listings are alternated once they run and the same listings are not printed every day.

Cursillo ultreya

There will be a cursillo ultreya and pot-luck supper Saturday, Nov. 9, at St. Ann Church, Holy Family Parish, Pleasant Street. The pot-luck is at 5 p.m., followed by the ultreya at 6 p.m. You need not have been on a cursillo encounter weekend to attend. Call Al Mitchell at 978-879-3655.

Thanksgiving food drive

The Open Door and North Shore 104.9 have teamed up for the Thanksgiving Food Drive on Saturday, Nov. 23. Food donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Market Basket at Gloucester Crossing, Stop & Shop on Thatcher Road, and Shaw’s on Eastern Avenue. Items most needed include peanut butter, tuna, cereal and juice. No glass please. Visit www.foodpantry.org.

‘As You Like It’

Cape Ann Shakespeare Troupe presents Shakespeare’s comedy “As You Like It” at Gloucester Stage Company, 267 East Main St. Performances run on Nov. 7-9, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15, $10 for students, $5 for those under 19. Kids harvest party

Drop off the kids at the Gloucester United Methodist Church and enjoy a night out. On Friday, Nov. 8, from 5 to 8 p.m., the church is throwing a harvest party for all children ages 3-12. Macaroni and cheese with chicken tenders will be served. Free Christian-themed games, music and crafts. To register, call 978-281-1040.
