Sunday, Oct. 7’s first Fall Classic Car Show and Cruise Day, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Blue Gate Lane. Staging and registration for show cars at 7 a.m. Awards and raffle prizes at 2 p.m., followed by parade through town. Free registration and admission.

Monday, Oct. 8

Toad Hall bookstore 40th birthday celebration, 11 a.m. to noon, Shalin Liu Performance Center, 37 Main St. Family-friendly event features esteemed authors, local students and musicians. All welcome. Price of admission is a used book. Cash donations also accepted. 978-546-7323.

Tuesday, Oct. 9

Foxwoods away-day for Rockport seniors, bus departs Rockport Depot at 7:30 a.m., returns about 7:30 p.m. $25 fee includes motor coach, free buffet and $15 Keno.

Wednesday, Oct. 10

Devil’s Island, a movie filmed on Thacher Island, 7:30 p.m., Rockport Community House, 58 Broadway. $5 suggested donation to be shared by Thacher Island Association and Gloucester High School’s film club. The movie, an homage to classic thrillers, was directed by GHS history teacher Shaun Goulart. Trailer available by typing “UTUBE Shaun Goulart Devil’s Island” into search engine.

Saturday, Oct. 13

Rockport HarvestFest, all day celebrations of coastal New England autumn fare, fun, music and art. With a scarecrow contest, scarecrow stroll, scarecrow parade, pumpkin-painting, guitar-making, local foods, seafoods and all day cooking demos.

Old Sloop Coffeehouse presents Drew Nelson, 7:30 p.m., Red House recording artist and multi-instrumentalist, with Tom “Satch” Kerans opening. Advance tickets, $10 at:, or Gloucester Music, Toad Hall Bookstore. Door donations: $12, adults; $7, 65 and older; $5, under 18; $24 for a family. Share the Music presents “A Night at the Cabaret,” 7 p.m., Boy Scout Hall, 47 Mt. Pleasant St. Tickets, $15, available at Toad Hall Book Store. Seats limited. No tickets sold at door. Proceeds support purchase of music and set pieces used by the performers.
