Rockport Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Fitness programs

Rockport Community Schools offer these late winter fitness courses: registration forms are available in the Rockport Public Library and all school offices. For more information, call Gini Nangle, Community Schools Manager, at 978-546-1204.

Yoga with Janet Green Garrison, Thursdays, 5:15 – 6:30 p.m. in MS / HS Library, 6 weeks, March 14 to April 25; $72 per person. Helps manage anxiety, arthritis, asthma, back pain, blood pressure, depression, stress; improves concentration, boosts self-esteem, improves muscle tone, flexibility, strength, and stamina.

Fitness with Marsha Whelan, Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in elementary gym; 6 weeks (12 sessions): Feb. 25 – April 3. $60/Unit ($48/Unit for seniors 60+). Full body workout focusing on strength, endurance and tone. Weights work, floor work; bring towel and mat, water, exercise footwear and comfortable clothing.

Democratic Committee meeting

The Rockport Democratic Town Committee will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, in the Brenner Room of the Rockport Public Library. All Democrats registered in the town of Rockport are welcome. For more information call Suellen at 978-546-3754.

Annual art show

The Rockport Public Schools annual K-12 Art Show at the Rockport Art Association’s opening reception is tonight, Thursday, March 7, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.

Ballroom Blitz

Ballroom Blitz, a dance performance showcasing fifth-graders as well as Rockport High School dancers and cheerleaders, will take place Friday, March 8, 7 p.m., in the RHS gymnasium. In case of snow, the event will take place Sunday, March 10, at 1 p.m. Tickets available at the door: $5 for adults, $2 for students. Program is funded by the Rockport Education Foundation.
