Manchester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Press releases may be sent to Goings on, Gloucester Daily Times, 36 Whittemore St., Gloucester, MA 01930, sent via email to gdt@gloucestertimes.com or faxed to 978-282-4397. Please include a contact person’s name and telephone number and send at least two weeks prior to the event. The Times will do its best to run the announcement at least once prior to the event. Due to the volume of goings on listings received by the paper, listings are alternated once they run and the same listings are not printed every day.

Story times

The Manchester Public Library’s story time schedule is:

Preschool Story Time, for children ages 3 to 5, meets Mondays, 10:30 to 11 a.m. If bringing a group, please register.

Mother Goose Story Time, for infants through age 2, meets Wednesdays, 10:30 to 10:50 a.m. Simple rhymes, stories and instruments.

Both groups meet by the hearthside in the Reading Room while the Children’s Room is being renovated.

Homebound books

The staff of the Manchester Public Library reminds residents that they may drop off and pick up library materials for residents who are homebound, either temporarily or permanently. Call 978-526-7711.

Knit, crochet group

The Council on Aging knitting and crocheting group invites all knitters to meet Mondays at 3 p.m., in the Plains Community Room. Get together with friends, compare knitting notes, get help on a project or learn a new stitch. Transportation available. To register, call 978-526-7500.

Morning Gym

The Manchester Parks and Recreation Department will take over Morning Gym from the Manchester PTO. The program is designed to meet the needs of families with busy mornings. Children have the opportunity to play freely in the gym or play organized games with instructor Dara St. Sauveur. The class, which costs $5 per morning, runs from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m. (No early drop offs, please.) For a registration form, call 978-526-2019.
