Three-part community poetry reading, 8 a.m., Celebrate the life of first Gloucester Poet Laureate Vincent Ferrini at Niles Beach; 9 to 9:45 a.m., Open mic at Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Memorial, with Carl Carlsen reading Gloucester poet Clarence Manning Falt. 10 a.m., 15-minute tribute to Charles Olson at his grave in Beechbrook Cemetery. Devil’s Island, a movie filmed on Thacher Island, 7:30 p.m., Rockport Community House, 58 Broadway. $5 suggested donation to be shared by Thacher Island Association and Gloucester High School’s film club. Gloucester Democratic City Committee meets, 7 p.m., Campaign Headquarters, Walgreen’s Plaza. Congressman John Tierney, state Rep. Ann-Margaret Ferrante, Candidate for Governor’s Council Eileen Duff, and representatives of President Obama’s and Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren’s campaigns will speak. Tribute to John Lennon and George Harrison concert, 6 to 9:30 p.m., Shalin Liu Performance Center, Rockport. Beatles tribute band Octopus’s Garden performs classic Beatles songs, and The Mockers perform solo works by Lennon and Harrison. $20. All proceeds benefit local cancer related charities.
