On Her Way

She said she was on her way to see me

and decided to take the long way through the park

where she met a squirrel who gave her an acorn

a bird who gave her a song, a man who gave her a smile

a tree who gave her a leaf and a sky who gave her a sun.

She spoke and she emptied her pockets,a leaf and an acorn fell out

She gave me a bird’s song and a man’s smile

She gave me the sun from the sky

Wrapped in her arms like a present
