Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Voter discussion

Question 6 on November 6 Ballot: Join other local voters for a discussion of this important public policy question calling upon Congress to redirect military spending to domestic needs and protect Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and Veterans benefits. Sponsored by the North Shore Coalition for Peace and Justice on Thursday, November 1, 7 pm at the Parish Hall of the Universalist Unitarian Church, Middle and Church Streets.

Flu clinic

The next Board of Health flu clinic will be held on Monday, Nov. 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room in Town Hall for those age 18 and over. A limited supply of flu mist is available on a first come first served basis. The regular flu shot and a high dose flu shot will also be available. Please wear a short sleeves and bring your insurance cards.

Meet the author

Gloucester native Anna Solomon, who took the inspiration for her Pushcart Prize-winning short story and Boston Book Festival’s 2012’s “One City, One Story” selection choice “The Lobster Mafia Story” from her Gloucester upbringing will be at the Sawyer Free Library at 7 p.m. on Nov. 8, to read and discuss this short story. Free copies will be available at the Circulation Desk or can be downloaded from her website at: annasolomon.com.
