Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Drill Team raffle

The Gloucester High School Marine Drill Team is currently raffling off a Special Edition X-Box 360 with Skylanders. Tickets are $5 each and may be purchased from any Drill Team member or by calling 978-387-3423. The drawing will take place Jan. 19 during the Drill Team competition at GHS.

Little League sign-ups

Gloucester Little League will hold sign-ups for children, ages 8-14, who want to play Little League or Junior League baseball this season on Sunday, Jan. 20 and Saturday, Jan. 26, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Gloucester High School foyer. Youth acting workshops

Gloucester Stage Youth Acting Workshops is accepting students, ages 6-18, for the winter session. The six-week workshop meets Fridays and Saturdays, Friday, Feb. 1-Saturday, March 9, for a total of four hours per week. Workshops, sponsored in part by The Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Foundation and the Bruce J. Anderson Foundation, are taught by award-winning actress and Gloucester native Heidi Dallin and guest instructors. Workshops develop self-confidence, communication and teamwork skills. Lara Jardullo, costume designer for the annual YAW production of “Holiday Delights,” will introduce students to elements of costume design and using costuming techniques to help build a character. Students will write and stage short plays as well as design costumes. Students are divided in classes according to age. Class size is limited. Registration is on a first-come basis.
