Poets Corner: Hand Me Downs

Tracing the years that have passed us by

We can reflect upon the hand me downs we wore

Such as the shirts and pants we could not buy

Or the responsibility of doing our chores

Hand me downs of a brother's bike or Fathers car

Or the wedding gown from the day that mother's wed

The family pictures that we always treasured

Or just the words of advice loved ones said

The hand me downs that helped us grow

By the wisdom we as children were given to share

What we do with our hand me downs is all up to you

We can live in a life of a fast paced lane

Or treasure the hand me downs that guides us true

Hand me downs are a blessings of gifted love

From the hearts of our Fathers and our Mothers

Hand me downs are also the Circle of faith

Inherit as one of God's family of sisters and brothers
