Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Blanket Drive

Gloucester Elks Lodge 892 is collecting new blankets for the homeless to present to the Action Emergency Shelter on Nov. 29

Parish bazaar

On Saturday, Dec. 1, Our Lady of Good Voyage Church will hold its Christmas Bazaar in the parish hall starting at 9 a.m., with a fried dough breakfast. At 10:30 a.m. Santa arrives and at 11:30 lunch will be served.The bazaar will feature Portguese sweet bread, baked goods, a general store and more; it will run until 1 p.m. and is wheelchair accessible.

Emblem Club

penny sale

The Gloucester Emblem Club No. 339 will hold a holiday penny sale Tuesday, Nov. 27, 7:30 p.m., at 101 Atlantic Road. A ham basket with all the fixings will be raffled off. Door prizes and a 50/50 raffle will be available. Call Phil Begeal at 978-283-7460.

Holiday tea

The Schooner Adventure will host its holiday tea at the Inn Magnolia on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 1:30 p.m. Tea tasting, food, live music and a mini fair/auction. Admission is $10. Visit www.schooner-adventure.org, call 978-281-8079 or email info@schooner-adventure.org.

Solstice Stroll

The Trustees of Reservations will offer a candlelight Solstice Stroll in Ravenswood Park on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by a warm fire, S’mores and hot chocolate. Bring a nonperishable item for The Open Door Food Pantry. Cost is $5 for nonmembers, free for members. Registration required; visit www.thetrustees.org, email capeann@ttor.org or call 978-281-8400.
