Essex Holiday Festival, 6:30 p.m. Join us for a solemn, special ceremony, the lighting of our Memory Tree at Town Hall on Martin Street, where we honor our lost loved ones. The town’s children’s bell choir performs in the background.

friday, nov. 30

Santa arrives by boat, 6:30 p.m. at the Town Landing. Join Santa and Mrs. Claus at Waterline Center at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum, where kids can review their holiday “wish list” with the “Big Man” — njoy clam chowder, donuts, hot chocolate

Game night, for teens in grades seven to 12, 6 to 8 p.m., T.O.H.P. Burnham Library, 30 St. Martin St. Snacks, door prizes and lots of board games.

Saturday, Dec. 1

Breakfast with Santa with crafts, songs and photos, 8 to 11 a.m. Essex Elementary School on Story Street. Come join in all the fun!

4th Annual Holiday Shopping Day, many participating businesses offer free food, drink, discounts, complimentary gift wrapping until 8 pm. Raffle prizes, silent auction items to bid on, storytelling and caroling. Eat, Shop and be Merry in Essex!

Story hour for kids ages 3-5 with a caregiver, 10 a.m. T.O.H.P. Burnham Library, 30 Martin St. Call 978-768-7410 or email dfrench@mvlc.org. Enjoy songs, stories, crafts and fun.

Tuesday, Dec. 4

Cape Ann TV’s annual Santa party, 3 to 7 p.m., 38 Blackburn Center, Gloucester. Children invited to meet Santa Claus. Meetings with Santa will be videotaped and shown on CATV’s Channel 12 on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Free and open to the public. Saturday, Dec. 8

Christmas concert, “The Reason for the Season,” 7 to 9 p.m., Emmanuel Community Church, 180 Western Ave. Music, comedy, food and fun for all ages. Doors open at 6 p.m. Donations appreciated.
