Rockport Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Please include a contact person’s name and telephone number and send at least two weeks prior to the event. The Times will do its best to run the announcement at least once prior to the event. Overboard at

Old Sloop

Old Sloop Coffeehouse will present a performance by a cappella ensemble Overboard on Saturday, Dec. 8, 7:30 p.m., at First Congregational Church, 12 School St. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10; visit www.oldsloopcoffeehouse.org, Gloucester Music or Toad Hall Bookstore. Tickets at the door are $12 for adults, $7 for those 65 and older, $5 for those younger than 18, $24 per family. This is a WUMB “Warm Clothes — Warm Hearts” event: bring a gently-used coat, jacket, hat or gloves for donation to an area homeless shelter and receive a free drink.

Laughing Yoga

Laughing Yoga will be held at the Rockport Senior Center on Monday, Dec. 3, at 10:30 a.m. All welcome.

Holiday shopping night

More than 56 downtown merchants will offer a night of holiday shopping Friday, Dec. 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. Features exclusive promotions, discounts, raffles and giveaways throughout downtown Rockport, and light refreshments. Call Dawn Noble at 978-546-5868.

Santa Paws fundraiser

Bring your dog to see Santa at the ninth annual Santa Paws fundraising event to benefit Cape Ann Animal Aid on Sunday, Dec. 2, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Smith’s Ace Hardware and Lumber in Rockport; and Saturday, Dec. 8, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Hometown Ace Hardware in Gloucester.
