Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Please include a contact person’s name and telephone number and send at least two weeks prior to the event. The Times will do its best to run the announcement at least once prior to the event. Art demonstrations

In conjunction with the Cape Ann Artisans at 30 Exhibition, the Cape Ann Museum, 27 Pleasant St., will host a series of demonstration days. The schedule is as follows:

Saturday, April 27 — 10 a.m. to noon, Julia Garrison: Block Printing; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Marty Morgan, Anni Melancon, David Archibald, Cynthia Curtis, Erin O’Sullivan-Place and Scott Place: Pottery; and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Mary Ann Wenniger: Collagraph.

Saturday, May 18 — 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Bart Stuyf: Sculpture-making activity for children, and Judith Goetemann: Batik; and 1 to 3 p.m., Leslie Wind: Fiber arts, Sara Wright: Weaving, and Jayn Gardner and Meredith Anderson: Jewelry.

‘The Law & Underage Drinking’

Essex County District Attorney Blodgett and Attorney Campbell will present a free program, “Party’s at Your House! The Law & Underage Drinking: Know the Facts,” on Thursday, April 25, 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Rose Baker Senior Center. Sponsored by Healthy Gloucester Collaborative, Gloucester Police Department, Gloucester Licensing Board, and Gloucester Council on Aging. All local communities are welcome. Light refreshments served. No preregistration required.

Stroke Club

The Gloucester Stroke Club will meet Thursday, April 4, 7 p.m., at Addison Gilbert Hospital. Use the Washington Street entrance. Guest speaker is registered pharmacist Mauren Hobin. Bring a list of medications, both prescription and over-the-counter. All are welcome. Call 978-283-2633 or 978-283-3968.
